Fashion Industry is considered to be one of the most polluting industries in the world. That’s why there are more and more initiatives that focus on this matter: Recycle, Reuse and Produce in a sustainable way.
One of the keys in this matter is how the user can dispose of their fashion pieces. Design and innovation play an important role here. With the concepts of circularity and recycling in mind, the Belgian start-up Resortecs has invented a thread that dissolves with heat. This product that has been awarded in the 2020 European Social Innovation Competition organised by the European Commission.
More and more Fashion Brands are aware of the impact they generate and they try to do it better. We believe that this is not just a trend, but a commitment that we must offer to our customers. For example, the possibility of repairing or fixing a leather item is a step forward. That’s why we are proud to carry out processes and techniques that permits us to repair any leather item we make. In our understanding, this is a critical aspect when deciding what sustainable manufacturing is.
Another initiative that carried out the British-Portuguese company Farfetch, is Farfetch Fix. A luxury accesories restoration service in collaboration with the company The Restory. Artisans carry out these personalized reparairs so that the bags, shoes or leather goods look like the firts day.
On the other hand, we, as buyers, can make our litle contribution in this matter. So, please: Recycle, Reuse and Consume in a sustainable way!
