HOW TO make a leather item – Chapter 4: Assembly Process
Once all the pieces composing the leather item have been cut, they must be carefully assembled. This process is developed between the leather worker and the seamstress, who must work side by side in order to get the perfect finish.
The leather pieces are reinforced, when necessary, and the leather worker starts to join each of these pieces as if they were the pieces of a puzzle. This is one of the most time consuming tasks in the whole process since it is the actual making of the leather item, as customers will perceive it.
Stitching, either hand made or by machine, must be uniform and the correct density, ensuring no seam grinning or skipped stitches. Only the most skilled seamstresses are able to meet the strict quality standards that Luxury Brands demand.
