Interview with… Les Deux de Cock, timeless Belgian creativity
Today, we want to present you the second interview on Betangible. In the first interview, a leather goods manufacturer responded our questions about the work they develop in the leather workshop. Now, it is the turn of Belgian brand Les Deux de Cock which, in spite of its short trajectory, is becoming more and recognised by its timeless geometric simplicity of the styles.
Betangible: Who are “Les Deux de Cock”?
Les Deux de Cock: We are two sisters from Antwerp, Belgium. The label started in 2009.
The handbags have an architectural and monumental character by the way the leather is stitched. The inspiration for the structures is the square. By the repetitive use of the patterns, the bags obtain a tight simplicity. In some models it creates a strong 3D effect. We have created “quirky collection” where creativity and originality prevails.
Betangible: How did you get to know about Andalusia as far as the Leather Goods Industry is concerned?
LDDC: In fact, it was fairly a coincidence. We had been looking for a leather goods manufacturer for quite a long time. We heard from a common contact that Betangible can help designers and brands find a manufacturer for their collections. We contacted them and they are assisting us in everything related to the production of our collection.
Betangible: Have you ever been to Ubrique, as the core of the industry, or the surrounding towns?
LDDC: Until now, we have visited the area once. We had a nice meeting in nearby town and visited some leather goods factories and leather suppliers in Ubrique. For us it was a positive experience.
Betangible: You said that your collection is currently being produced in Andalusia. What is your experience so far?
LDDC: Exactly, our first order is now under production. You know that beginnings are never easy, but the experience is very positive as a whole.
Betangible: What are your future projects as far as leather goods are concerned?
LDDC:We make two collections a year. We would like to go two times a year to Andalusia for production. We really learnt very much during our visit and appreciated how leather goods are made in Andalusia.
