I think you all know that we like challenges and this project has been a real one. This “adventure” started a few months ago. It became a “tangible” piece not long ago and it is now in the market.

Nothing can be compared to the excitement when we saw our customer’s face once the production sample was finished. It was an incredible feeling to see that we managed to make what they had in their minds. As they said… “A dream come true”…

The making of this stunning design was beautifully filmed at our leather goods sampling studio in Ubrique (Spain). We really enjoyed the experience not only for the fun but also for the fact that our customer was able to see and appreciate the passion our team put on every step of the making process of their leather bag.

Thanks to the owners of the design and brand (The SLCTD) , it is a pleasure to be able to share the video below with our followers. Hope you like it. We look forward to your comments….

We got impressed when we received the video below. We love everything in it; Prada’s  Saffiano leather, the traditional edge dyeing method, the hand making of the handles… The video really depicts how high-end leather goods manufacturing is performed. 95% of the processes are hand made, in which the hands of the craftsman and his/her skills are the only guarantors of a luxuriously made leather good. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Planning and scheduling are vital tasks in the development of an industrial activity. If we focus on the manufacturing of leather goods, planning seems to be a bit more complicated due to several factors such as sourcing of raw materials and all the peculiarities of a hand crafted product.Because of this, we must monitor every single stage in the manufacturing process in order that it can be as efficient as possible. This is the main task of the Workshop Manager. Spanish Leather Goods Manufacturers call this person ”Master”.

Clients, suppliers, manufacturers and all parties that are implied in the whole process must facilitate each other’s tasks for the mutual benefit. Realism and Pragmatism is the key here. Most of the issues that are found in the relationship between the parties have to do with due times that are not fulfilled. The analysis of the situation and a great dose of professionalism are crucialin order to avoid negative experiences to a minimum. We are all in the same boat and we must work together and try to understand the reasons behind all the demands and requests from clients, only in this way will we have sustainable businesses.

We strongly believe that there are certain processes that must be 100% hand made since this fact adds a unique soul to the product. On the other hand, we love to explore the unique and innovative results that occur when modern technology and design merge with traditional craftsmanship and artisanal skill. Technology may help a traditionally made products become part of the current way of commercialising and responding to the needs and demands of the market and clients.

Merging the tradition of craftsmanship with the advancements of modern production and communication enriches both ways of approaching to the manufacturing of an artisanal item.

Making Custom-made products has become the new way that Luxury Brands are using to offer their clients a more exclusive and personalised service. This is a way of going back to their origins and raison d’etre.

Believe it or not, there are still small leather goods workshops that make one-off leather products. Today, we would like to show you a local manufacturer that specialises in the manufacturing of bespoke storage chests and trunks, Breton. We were invited to see Breton’s workshop and got impressed about their craftsmanship and meticulous care of the details in each piece. See some photos below.

Today, we want to show collaboration between two traditional industries, Leather & Carpentry Industries. This project started some months ago within the framework of a project led by IES Carlos III , a local Training Workshop. The Project tries to strengthen bonds between these two guilds so that they can share techniques and ideas for better-made products.

The pictures and the video below show the making process of ash table with leather wrapped panels. We hope you enjoy it…

According to Merriam-Webster, Heritage is “Something transmitted by or acquired from a predecessor. Legacy. Tradition”. The fact of having the heritage and skills is crucial to make high quality leather goods. However, this might not be enough. Traditional Industries must be at the forefront of modern communications and digital marketing. Not only must they realise the importance of heritage, craftsmanship and quality, but also innovation and the prioritisation of the customer.
