Most people may agree that Italian luxury brand Bottega Veneta is mostly recognised by their woven bags. You may also imagine that only the most skilled Artisans are able to make it with the quality standards that luxury brands offer. The video below shows part of the process. I hope you enjoy it.
Most of the input that we receive from brands dedicated to the design and manufacturing of leather goods refers to the value of craftsmanship, tradition and the fact that their products have been handmade one by one using the “most genuine” leather. After not much thought or reflection one may think that there may be some minor changes and/or “imperfections” as part of the “one-by-one” making process. However, these minor “imperfections” are not always accepted and understood by buyers/clients… So, … where is the value of handmade leather goods? Is it in the ability of the leather workers to make handmade copies? Should clients accept these minor imperfections?
